LabVac and Angus Willis
My experience in the field of vacuum engineering, and in particular the laboratory disciplines of chemistry and life science, charts a progression during which I have formed, developed and sold two companies and built well respected brands. I have worked in sales, marketing, service and new product development, both as an employee and as owner and managing director.
Vacuum and Industrial Products (Creative Group)
I began working in the field of vacuum engineering in 1992, with V&IP, an official agent for BOC Edwards. This provided my formal training at the Edwards School of Vacuum in Crawley.
Ultimate Vacuum Ltd.
I formed UVL in 1996, introducing product lines imported from Europe, most notably Saskia Hochvakuum of Ilmenau, Germany, and their brand name Ilmvac.
Ilmvac (UK) Ltd.
In 1999 Saskia changed it's name to Ilmvac with a view to better exploit export markets. I formed the first export company in the UK in this year. This led to the expansion of sales to OEM and dealer channels, making Ilmvac a recognized brand in laboratory products, as well as the manufacturing power behind Fisherbrand and VWR private label vacuum pump ranges.
Gardner Denver Inc.
Following a decade of rapid growth and now comprising the German and UK operations, plus companies in China and USA, Ilmvac was sold to Gardner Denver Inc. in 2010. As a $2 billion public corporation, GDI required me to develop an additional skill set, working in the global management team for the newly formed Welch-Ilmvac. I spent three years with Gardner Denver, consolidating the marketing of both lines into the major laboratories and dealers in Europe.
Laboratory Vacuum Services Ltd.
LabVac represents a return to my core activities, bringing together the unique experience I have gained through the stages of my career to date. At the core of LabVac lies my own desire to provide excellent service, backed by first rate application and product knowledge, to the mutual benefit of the customer and the company. Openness and honesty are the basis of my business practices, and my own desire to continue learning through experience make LabVac the obvious choice for me.
LabVac has grown and developed, remaining focused on Chemistry and Life Science laboratories in the University and Pharma sectors.
2017 Expansion
In 2017 LabVac relocated to new 300 square metre facility to enable further expansion of the business. We also add additional vehicles which ensure we can safely transport pumps for service.
2021 Expansion
Despite the difficult conditions which we all face during this period, Labvac continues to expand, adding new tooling for parts cleaning and preparation as well as additional space for spares and storage. Through these constant improvements to our facilities we maintain our commitment as a leading service centre for laboratory vacuum equipment.
